Ursinus
College Study Abroad
Ursinus College Study Abroad is a member of NAFSA Association of International Educators and of
NAFSA's Region VIII
serving Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West
Virginia.
Policies and Procedures
- These policies apply only to semester and academic year programs of study abroad.
Separate funding is available to support summer study abroad programs and internships. See
the study abroad coordinator for information
on short-term program funding.
- Students are approved for study abroad based on a competitive review of all applications
by a faculty committee.
- Ursinus College has a "financial aid travels" policy. According to this policy
students may use their financial aid packages (including both need and merit-based
funding) for study abroad. Students who hold grants and scholarships and/or federal and
state grants and loans must apply for these funds as usual by separate application to the
Student Financial Services Office. Such funds are released for qualifying Ursinus College
students who opt to participate in pre-approved semester or academic year programs. Visit Study Abroad Programs and Affiliations
for listings.
- Students who elect to participate in programs not included in the pre-approved list may
be allowed to use their financial aid packages if the program of their choice is deemed to
be better suited to their academic goals.
- Study abroad students pay Ursinus College tuition (and room and board if included in the
study abroad program's fee) less any funding award directly to the College. The College
disburses payment to the study abroad program on the students behalf.
- Airfare, transportation and travel, books and supplies, and personal expenses overseas
are the students responsibility.
- Study abroad application packets are available in the Study Abroad Office (Olin Hall
219) and in the Deans Office (first floor Corson Hall).
The application deadline is March 31, 2000 for consideration for the fall and/or spring
semesters of the 2000-2001 academic year. Completed study abroad application packets must
be turned in to the Study Abroad Office.
- Approval of study abroad applications will be announced by mid to late April 2000.
- All students must apply for approval to study abroad regardless of financial
need.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are unsure about your study abroad plans for the 2000-2001
academic year, you should apply by the March 31, 2000 deadline since space is limited and
may not be available to late applicants.
